The native range of this species is Tanzania (W. Usambara Mountains, Uluguru Mountains). It is a hemiparasitic epiphyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Morphology General Habit
Shrub to 1 m. or so, well branched; twigs tomentellous with stellate and small rusty dendritic hairs, soon glabrescent.

Petiole 5–12 mm. long; lamina thinly coriaceous, oblong-elliptic to oblong-obovate, 3–8 cm. long, 1.5–4 cm. wide, rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base, inconspicuously stellate-pubescent beneath, ± glabrescent; lateral nerves 4–8 pairs, spreading-ascending, rather obscure.

Spikes axillary and clustered at older nodes, with 6–12 sessile flowers on an axis 4–25 mm. long; bract ovate to elliptic-obovate, concave, 3–4 mm. long, pubescent.
