Morphology General Habit
Perennial; caespitose; clumped densely. Butt sheaths green, or purple. Culms erect; 30-70 cm long; 4 -noded. Culm-internodes distally glabrous. Culm-nodes glabrous. Leaves mostly basal. Leaf-sheaths mostly shorter than adjacent culm internode; striately veined; scaberulous. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1-2 mm long; scaberulous on abaxial surface; truncate. Leaf-blades involute; 15-30 cm long; 1-2 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface ribbed; grooved adaxially and abaxially; scabrous; rough on both sides. Leaf-blade apex attenuate.
