The native range of this species is S. Central China to Malesia. It is a tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Morphology General Habit
Tree up to 18(–25) m tall.
Morphology Leaves
Leaves large, bipinnate, up to 1 m long, the pinnae in 2–3 pairs each with 1–2 pairs of leaflets and a terminal leaflet, leaflets ovate to lanceolate-elliptic, 6–7 × 3–5 cm.

Flowers in terminal panicles 10–40 cm long, fragrant, opening mostly at night.
