Prostrate or sprawling subshrubby herb 0.6–2 m long with ascending flowering stems from a stout rootstock.

Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets green, the upper surface mostly with a lanceolate or somewhat pear-shaped silver marking along the midrib, 2.5–8.5 × 1–4 cm, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acute at the apex, rounded at the base, fairly densely appressed pilose on both sides or only sparsely so above; petiole 1.8–6 cm long; stipules 5–8 × 2–4 mm, ovate, long-acuminate at apex, slightly auriculate at the base.
