Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short; scaly. Culms 50-80 cm long. Ligule a fringe of hairs; 0.5 mm long. Leaf-blades 10-30 cm long; 2-7 mm wide. Leaf-blade margins tuberculate-ciliate; hairy at base.
