A very useful plant. The wood is hard, red, durable and attractive, and is used for housebuilding, furniture and as a fuel. All parts of the plant have medicinal uses. A powerful insect-antifeedant, the limonoid azadirachtin occurs in this species and is used by man as an insecticide.
