Rhizome massive, clothed at apex with rigid, linear, dark brown scales up to 2 cm long
Morphology Leaves
Fronds up to 4 m tall; stipes very stout, grooved, dark brown, bearing at the base a cluster of broadly linear scales up to 2.5 cm long, these with a dark brown longitudinal band in the middle and paler, retrorsely fibrillose margins Sterile fronds erect to somewhat spreading, the fertile ones taller and rigidly erect; pinnae very numerous, 20–40 or more on each side plus a terminal pinnae; tissue of sterile pinnae sometimes finely pubescent beneath; fertile pinnae of somewhat fleshy texture.
Distribution
Grand Cayman. Western Hemisphere tropics.
Ecology
In the same habitats as Acrostichum aureum, but usually much less common.
