Vegetative Multiplication Rhizomes
Rhizome woody, erect, at maturity 1.5–3 cm thick, the apex clothed with dark brown, lance-deltate, denticulate-fimbriate scales up to 7 mm long
Morphology Leaves
Fronds scarcely more than 50 cm long in Cayman plants, elsewhere up to 1.5 m long, the grooved stipe about as long as the lamina; lamina oblong or ovate-oblong, 1-pinnate with basal pinna deeply 2-lobed, the lower division shorter than the upper; undivided pinnae narrowly or broadly oblong with long-acuminate apex, usually several cm broad, the terminal pinna confluent with the uppermost lateral ones; tissue normally glabrous; vein-areoles often with a free included veinlet

Distribution
Grand Cayman. West Indies and Mexico to S. America.
