- Rhizome erect, short, with dark brown narrowly ovate attenuate rhizome scales.

- Stipe dark grey, 10–23 cm long, canaliculate in upper part, bearing scales similar to those of rhizome.

- Terminal pinna often 3-lobed with acute lobes. Pinnae in 5–12 pairs, at an angle of 85° with the rachis, (sub)opposite, sub-coriaceous, petiolate, spaced, rhomboid and asymmetrical, 5–8 × 2–3 cm, base unequal, the acroscopic base cuneate, subtruncate and ± auriculate, the basiscopic base oblong and rounded, sometimes also auriculate, margin crenate-dentate, median lobe elongate [?], deltoid and serrate. Pinnae with small narrow scales on lower surface.

- Distribution
- Range: Guinea to Congo-Kinshasha. Some specimens had been named as this taxon, but turned out to be {i}A. warneckei{/i}.
