Erect to semi-procumbent herb to 1.3 m; stem fleshy, glabrous or sparsely pubescent, sometimes rooting from lower nodes.

Leaves petiolate, petiole 0.7–4 cm, blade ovate to rhomboid, 2–15(–22) cm long, 1–7(–12.5) cm wide, base attenuate to cuneate, sometimes forming narrow wings along petiole, margins crenulate to serrate, apex obtuse to acute, glabrous or sub-glabrous, 3-veined from base.

Capitula few to numerous, ± 3–5 mm long, 4–5 mm diameter when mature; stalks of individual capitula 1.2–2.5 cm, glandular-pubescent; phyllaries 2–3 mm long, 0.5–0.75 mm wide, flat, apex obtuse to acute, margins entire or ciliate, basally pubescent.

Florets ± 30–42; corolla white, 1–1.5 mm long, basally wider, then narrowing into tube before expanding again into campanulate limb with 3–4(–5) (variable within capitulum) short, broadly triangular lobes; anthers free, 3–4(–5), ± 0.2 mm long; style ± 2 mm, bifid for 1/3 of its length, arms swollen.
