Note
When Ventenat (1808) described Gothofreda cordifolia, he stated that the material on which the plate was based came from Santa-Fé de Bogotá and that it was sent to him by the Spanish naturalist M. Umana. This collection may be preserved in G, but we have not seen it. The plate published with the diagnosis shows the diagnostic characters clearly and is also part of the original material. We have therefore chosen to designate this as the lectotype of G. cordifolia.
Type
Ventenat (1808), Choix de plantes, t. 60, (lectotype).
