Quite common in the central sector of the lower forest zone, occasional in the steppe region. SE Portugal and C & S Spain, Syria, Palestine, Turkey, Caucasia, Iran, N Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Libya); casual elsewhere in the Mediterranean region.
