Descriptions

Note
This plant is a hybrid between P. verruculata and P. echioides (Lumn.) C.H. & F.W. Schulz, a species occurring from S Russia, Turkey and the Lebanon to Afghanistan and C Asia but not yet found in Iraq. It may not be present, because many Pilosella hybrids spread by seed or stolons – the latter, however, being absent in P. verruculata and infrequent in P. echioides. It should, however, be looked for.
Ecology
On rocky mountain slopes, sometimes in woodland, or cultivated ground on the lower slopes of a hill; alt. 1250–2100 m.
Distribution
Locally common in the mountain region of Iraq. Turkey, Caucasia, Iran.
