Morphology General Habit
Herb to 0.6 m tall, with ascending branches; branches pilose with crisped hairs and with entire or denticulate wings.

Leaves lanceolate, 2.5–6 cm long, 0.5–1.4 cm wide, base narrowing and decurrent, margins serrulate, apex acute, pilose especially on midrib and margins, glandular.

Glomerules mauve, terminal, globose, 10–12 mm in diameter; peduncle 1–3 cm long, narrowly winged, densely pilose; receptacle globose to broadly ovoid; glomerule bracts at length hidden but for the apices, but in younger stages with the lowermost visible, lanceolate, 3–5 mm long, pectinate-ciliate distally, acuminate, distally puberulous; capitula numerous, sessile, with 3 bracts, these linear, ± 3 mm long, scarious and puberulous.
