It is locally common in parts of northern Argentina, Paraguay, southern Bolivia and south and central Brazil. It becomes less common in the north of its range in northern Bolivia and Peru and appears to be absent from the Amazon basin and most of NE Brazil as well as Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.
Conservation
Least Concern, even in Peru based on the wide extent of occurrence, exceeding the IUCN threatened threshold for criterion B.
