Recognition
This genus differs from Kibara in that the latter has swollen glandular tissue which surrounds the inner rim of the ostiole and the grated number of tepals. Other characters include: Steganthera leaves usually dry brown (Kibara: usually greenish), and the pedicels of Steganthera are relatively slender and clearly distinct from the receptacle (Kibara: pedicels thickened distally with a less clearly defined junction with the receptacle or none at all).
