Biogeografic region: Andean, Pacific. Elevation range: 50–1900 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Caquetá, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Magdalena, Nariño, Putumayo, Valle del Cauca.
