Perennial. Culms scandent; 3-4 mm diam.; woody; without nodal roots. Culm-internodes terete; solid; 10-17 cm long; scaberulous. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement three. Leaf-sheaths keeled (above); striately veined; glabrous on surface, or pubescent. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 3 mm long; obtuse. Collar with external ligule. Leaf-blade base cordate; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.2-0.3 cm long; petiole glabrous, or pubescent. Leaf-blades deciduous at the ligule; oblong; 10-14 cm long; 14-20 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with obscure cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous.
