Biogeografic region: Amazonia, Andean, Pacific. Elevation range: 0–2000 m a.s.l. Cultivated in Colombia. Naturalised in Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Bogotá DC, Cauca, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Guaviare, La Guajira, Quindío, Santander, Sucre, Valle del Cauca, Vichada.
