Tree up to 20 m. high, bole erect; bark smooth, pale grey; branchlets striate, glabrous.

Leaf-blade stiffly coriaceous, obovate or oblong, entire, edge usually ± revolute in dry specimens, 6–11 (–14) cm. long, 3–5.5(–7) cm. wide, generally distinctly unequal-sided, shortly attenuate or subacuminate, base rounded or rarely subcordate, or mostly broadly cuneate on one side and rounded on the other; lateral veins 8–10 pairs, arcuate, more distinctly raised beneath; tertiary veins forming a dense network slightly though manifestly prominent on both faces; petiole 3–5(–6) mm. long.
