Perennial; caespitose. Culms geniculately ascending; 35-70 cm long; 3-5 -noded. Culm-internodes smooth. Leaf-sheaths smooth; glabrous on surface. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2.5-4.5 mm long; lacerate; obtuse. Leaf-blades flat; 5-17 cm long; 1-2.5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scabrous.
