Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short. Culms erect, or geniculately ascending; 20-70 cm long. Culm-internodes smooth. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2.5-4.5 mm long. Leaf-blades filiform; involute; 0.5-2 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scabrous; rough on both sides.
