Perennial; caespitose. Culms erect; 60-85 cm long. Culm-nodes brown; glabrous. Leaf-sheaths tight; 7-12 cm long; smooth, or scaberulous. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 3-5 mm long; obtuse. Leaf-blades 4-17 cm long; 2-6 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface smooth, or scabrous.
