Morphology General Habit
Perennial. Rhizomes elongated. Culms erect; 20-150 cm long. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 4-10 mm long; acute. Leaf-blades flat, or conduplicate; 15-35 cm long; 2-10 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface smooth, or scabrous; glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scaberulous.

Inflorescence a panicle; without bracts, or bracteate at branch bases. Peduncle antrorsely scabrous above. Panicle open, or contracted; lanceolate, or oblong; 4-40 cm long.
