Perennial; caespitose. Stolons absent, or present. Culms erect; 30-75 cm long. Ligule a ciliolate membrane. Leaf-blades 10-20 cm long; 4-5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scabrous. Leaf-blade margins scabrous.
