Annual. Culms 20 cm long; rooting from lower nodes. Culm-nodes bearded. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface; outer margin hairy. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaf-blades elliptic; 2-4.5 cm long; 3-7 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade margins cartilaginous; scaberulous. Leaf-blade apex acute.

Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; ovate; 2.5 cm long; 1.5 cm wide; bearing few spikelets. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels eglandular.
