Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes elongated. Culms erect; 12-85 cm long; 2-3 -noded. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1.3-5 mm long; obtuse. Leaf-blades flat, or convolute; 2-21 cm long; 1-4 mm wide; glaucous. Leaf-blade surface scabrous. Leaf-blade margins scabrous.
