The native range of this hybrid is Central Asia to Altay and Mongolia. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the temperate biome. The hybrid formula is S. glareosa × S. krylovii.

Perennial; caespitose. Culms 17-25(-75) cm long. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1-1.5 mm long. Leaf-blades linear; flat, or conduplicate; 10-20 cm long; 1-5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface puberulous; hairy adaxially, or on both sides.
