Small tree or shrub 4.5–6 m. tall, glabrous; branches ± slender, at first 4-angled, at length round, smooth or rather rough; bark green, smooth.

Leaves opposite; blades oblong or ovate-oblong, 7–15 cm. long, 3–7 cm. wide, obtuse or shortly and bluntly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, papery; venation slightly prominent, crossed by linear gland channels; petiole 0.6–1.4 cm. long, channelled above, slender, greenish yellow or orange, without a ligule.

Rudimentary ovary 2–2.5 mm. tall; stigma fleshy, punctate.
