This species is accepted
The native range of this species is Central & S. Tropical America, Lesser Antilles. It is a rhizomatous geophyte and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome. It is used as a medicine and has environmental uses.

Bolivia, Brazil North, Brazil Northeast, Brazil South, Brazil Southeast, Brazil West-Central, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Leeward Is., Trinidad-Tobago, Venezuela, Venezuelan Antilles, Windward Is.

French Guiana, Hawaii, Jamaica, Malaya, Mauritius, Mexico Southeast, Réunion
