Morphology General Habit
Suffrutex with 1 to several erect, ascending or procumbent stems 10–45 cm long from a woody rootstock; stems hispid, hairs (buff-)golden, antrorse; young stems with numerous shorter, finer hairs on two opposite sides; uppermost internodes sometimes with short spreading glandular hairs.

Leaves pale glaucous- or yellow-green when dry, oblanceolate to narrowly elliptic or uppermost leaves ovate-elliptic, 6.3–12.3 × 1.8–3.3 cm, base cuneate or uppermost leaves obtuse, apex acute or lower leaves obtuse to rounded, glabrous except for sparse (buff-)golden hispid hairs on margin, midrib and sometimes lateral veins beneath; lateral veins 4–6 pairs; petiole 0–5 mm.

Inflorescence a strobilate spike 3–7 cm long, terminating main and short lateral branches, each axil single-flowered; bracts broadly obovate to orbicular, (12)17–28 × (8)10–20.5 mm, base attenuate or rounded, apex broadly obtuse or subattenuate, external surface sparsely to more densely glandular-puberulous, with subappressed stiff hairs along margin and principal veins; bracteoles oblanceolate to obovate, (8)11–19 × (2)3–9 mm; flowers sessile.

Calyx pale green, often flushed mauve towards apex; anterior lobe oblong-elliptic or somewhat obovate, (9.5)11.5–16.5 × (3.5)4.5–6.5 mm, apex acute or notched to 3.5 mm, glandular-puberulous towards margin and apex, short ascending eglandular hairs sparse to numerous, two principal veins prominent; posterior lobe as anterior but sometimes more oblong-lanceolate, (11)13.5–18 × 4–7 mm, apex acute-mucronulate; lateral lobes linear-lanceolate, 9.5–15 mm long.

Corolla 23.5–30 mm long, white, pale blue or mauve, sometimes with darker guidelines, lateral lobes pubescent externally; tube cylindrical, 12.5–14 mm long; limb in 2+3 arrangement; abaxial lobe 8.5–14 × 7.5–11 mm; lateral lobes 10–16 × 6.5–7.5 mm; adaxial pair fused for 2.5–4.5 mm, free portions subulate or oblanceolate, 5–12 × 1.5–3.5 mm.

Conservation
Conservation notes: Rather local and known from c.10 sites in Congo and 3 in Zambia, but probably under-recorded; likely to be Least Concern.
