Morphology General Habit
Erect or procumbent annual herb; stems up to 50 cm long, glabrous or pilose with long many-celled hairs or sericeous.

Leaves usually subequal; lamina linear-lanceolate to narrowly ovate, largest 6–17 × 0.4–1(–1.7) cm, margin of some or all with a few teeth in basal half, subglabrous to pilose, finely scabrid-ciliate on margins.

Heads from near base to top of plant, subsessile; floral leaves and outer bracts lanceolate to narrowly obovate, up to 4 cm long, glabrous to finely sericeous, no capitate glands; inner bracts 8–18 mm long, linear-oblong.

Sepals with similar indumentum, finely ciliate (rarely with long ciliae); dorsal ovate-elliptic, 13–22 mm long, narrowing gradually to the cuspidate apex, no lateral teeth; ventral similar, 13–20 mm long, with two acuminate teeth; lateral 12–19 mm long.

Corolla blue or bright blue, (15–)18–28 mm long of which the tube 3.5–5 mm, callus with 3 distinct apical flanges.

Ecology
Seasonally waterlogged Acacia bushland and grassland on grey to black clay; (200–)1000–1500 m
Note
But where local conditions allow it to continue growing into the dry season more robust plants often develop, usually ± branched and often procumbent. Bax 311 is a good example of this robust late season form. Blepharis longifolia normally flowers in the rainy season as an erect ± unbranched herb. The type is no longer extant, but this is the only species from anywhere near the type-locality which fits the original description.
