[FTEA]

Acanthaceae (part 2), Kaj Vollesen. Flora of Tropical East Africa. 2008

Type
Type: Kenya, Laikipia [Leikipia], von Höhnel 75 (B†, holo.)
Note
C. leikipiensis must remain an imperfectly known species. The original description is very short and does not allow any conclusions as to its identity. Clarke (l.c.) – who examined the type material and prepared a longer description from it – obviously thought it different from another specimen ( Thomson s.n.) also from Laikipia. All material from this area examined by me (including Thomson s.n.) is referable to C. massaica but differs in several respects from the description given by Clarke for C. leikipiensis. The bracts and sepals are e.g. described as having long silky hairs, a character which would fit C. nilotica better. But C. nilotica does not occur anywhere near Laikipia.

Native to:

Kenya

Crossandra leikipiensis Schweinf. appears in other Kew resources:
