Brachystegia and Uapaca woodland on sandy to loamy or stony soil; 850–1650 m
Note
It was found growing together with typical D. nudantherum. Reported as occurring on soils with high copper content in Shaba region, Congo. Bidgood et al. 2658A from Nkansi District is somewhat intermediate between D. nudantherum and D. fimbriatum and might indicate that hybridization between these two species is possible. This specimen has a calyx which is only hairy along the edges of the lobes. But it has the small calyx of D. nudantherum and also densely hairy stems with antrorse hairs.
