- Erect or spreading annual, branching from the base, up to 80 cm. tall from a taproot; branches more or less densely pubescent or pilose.

- Stipules linear, pilose, ± 4 mm. long; rhachis pilose, up to 2 cm. long including a petiole rarely, except for first leaves in young plants, exceeding 1 mm., prolonged 1–2 mm. beyond the lateral leaflets; leaflets 5–11, narrowly oblong or oblanceolate, usually acute, rarely over 10 mm. long and 3 mm. wide, appressed pilose above, strigose beneath.
