Morphology General Habit
Erect (rarely straggling) shrubby herb or shrub to 1.3 m tall; plant drying green; young stems glabrous to puberulous.

Leaves glabrous below to puberulous along midrib and larger veins, glabrous above or with uniformly scattered hairs; petiole ill-defined, to 3 cm long; lamina ovate to elliptic or broadly so, largest 9–23 × 4.5–10.5 cm; apex acute to acuminate with acute to obtuse tip, basal part below middle abruptly narrowed to a long decurrent base.

Cymes (3)5–21 cm long, unbranched, sometimes with lateral cymes from upper leaf axils; lower internodes 1.5–5 cm long, rarely some cymes condensed with almost absent internodes; flowers solitary or in 3–5(7)-flowered cymules towards base of cyme or throughout; axis puberulous or sparsely so, no stalked capitate glands; lower 1–2 bract pairs usually foliaceous, others subulate to narrowly triangular, 3–8 mm long, indumentum as axis; pedicels 0.5–2(4 in fruit) mm long; bracteoles subulate to narrowly triangular, 3–8 mm long.
