Morphology General Habit
A small tree or much-branched upright shrub, up to 6 m. tall; branches with the younger parts ± densely rufous-pubescent, very soon glabrescent, lenticellate.

Leaf-lamina 3 (5)–9 (12) × 1·5–3·5 cm., obovate, oblanceolate, oblong-obovate to oblong-elliptic, obtuse, retuse to emarginate and usually finely apiculate at the apex, attenuate-cuneate at the base, coriaceous, brownish- or rufous-tomentose on both surfaces (more densely beneath) when very young, later usually glabrous (except sometimes the midrib beneath), with a pair of small glands near the insertion of the petiole underneath, and with 8–13 pairs of ± prominent lateral nerves; petiole 0·3–0·5 cm. long, glabrous or somewhat pubescent.
