Herbaceous twiner; stems to 2 m long, pilose or sparsely so, densest in two bands.

Leaves with petiole not winged, 2–6 cm long, indumentum as stems; lamina triangular-ovate in outline, largest 4.5–10.5 × 2–5.5 cm, apex acuminate, base deeply cordate, with sagittate lobes, margin subentire to coarsely dentate; subglabrous to sparsely pilose, below densest on veins, above uniformly.

Flowers axillary, solitary; pedicels (2–)4–9 cm long, subglabrous to sparsely pilose; bracteoles green with conspicuous main veins and reticulation, ovate or narrowly so, 2.7–3.5 × 1.1–1.8 cm, acute to acuminate, cordate and distinctly 4-angular at base, subglabrous to sparsely pilose, densest along edges and veins.

Calyx puberulous with stalked capitate glands only or with intermixed hairs (rarely with hairs only), rim 1–2 mm high, segments linear, 3–6 mm long.
