Ecology
Grassland by forest, wooded grassland, degraded Julbernardia-Parinari bushland, 850–1200 m
Note
Cavanilles’s figure shows the leaves toothed in error; throughout its range they are entire but marginal tufts of hair do occur. Sivarajan & Pradeep mention it has been reported from Fiji but A.C. Smith (Fl. Vitiensis Nova 2: 436 (1951)) shows the record is erroneous. Its presence in India must be due to a recent introduction. Rodrigo gives a photograph of a specimen ‘Boldo legit in Havana’ with a caption stating it is the type. However Cavanilles does not cite anything from Havana and this must, I think, be a specimen added to Cavanilles’s collection later.
