Erect or ascending glabrous herb 1–50 cm. tall or long, the short specimens erect; stems thickish, ± fleshy, 4-angled, sparsely branched, often rooting at basal nodes.

Leaves decussate, narrowly elliptic or obovate, 0.6–4.2 cm. long, 0.2–1.5 cm. wide, ± obtuse at the apex, acute to obtuse at the base, ± 1-nerved.
