Type: Lectotype: China, Sichuan, June 1903, E. H. Wilson 3722 (lectotype A!, isolectotypes BM!, K!).
Morphology General Shoots: Young shoots hirsute and densely glandular hairy
Morphology Leaves: Leaves elliptic, 10 – 16 mm long, paler green beneath
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences: Inflorescence few flowered, corolla bilabiate.
Note: A variety that is similar to some specimens of Abelia macrotera var. engleriana but differs in its pubescent stems and leathery leaves that are paler abaxially. Myrtilloides referring to the species Vaccinium myrtillus (Ericaceae): bilberries or blaeberries.
Distribution: China, localised in NE Sichuan, North Qinghai Tibetan Plateau (QTP).
Ecology: Unknown; 1,100 – 1,950 m.
Conservation: Vulnerable (VU). 13 collections; AOO = 20 km2; EOO = 1,319 km2; locations = 5; Vulnerable (VU) (B1a, B2a, D2). Protected area: Qianfoshan.
Phenology: Flowering June – Aug. Fruiting Aug. – Oct.
