South Africa, Limpopo Province, Pafuri: Kruger National Park, Saselandonga valley on the Mozambique border, 22 Feb. 1978, R. P. Ellis 3208 (holotype PRE!).
Morphology General Habit
Tufted robust, reed-like perennial, 55 – 110 cm high; culm hard robust, stiff, erect, nodes not exposed, unbranched basally, profusely branched on the most upper part, upper part appears very leafy due to cauline leaves

Spikelet 6.0 – 7.5 mm long (including awns), 3- or 4-flowered; third floret tiny, represented only by a tuft of awns; glumes pallid to light grey, unequal, glabrous to minutely pubescent; lemma awns plumose for 2/3 of their length; hairs at base of lemma and around the callus up to 0.8 mm long, usually shorter; anther 1.5 – 2.0 mm long.
Note
Enneapogon limpopoensis is closely related to E. scoparius, both have a tiny third floret, reduced to a tuft of awns; lemma awns plumose for 2/3 of their length.
Distribution
It is possibly endemic in Zimbabwe and South Africa (Limpopo Province)
