Morphology General Habit
Shrub or small tree up to c. 10·5 m. high, with bark very smooth, mottled pale to dark grey and purplish-brown and flaking in thin sheets to reveal greenish-yellow patches; branches slender, spreading, reddish-purple at first, becoming dark grey.

Leaves petiolate; lamina (7) 8·5–15 × 3–6·4 cm., elliptic to oblong or obovate, acute or shortly acuminate at the apex, with margin remotely and very shallowly appressed-spinulose-serrulate, cuneate to rounded at the base, sub-coriaceous, with few (c. 12) lateral nerves and densely reticulate tertiary venation more prominent below than above; petiole 3–4 mm. long, slender; stipules subulate, c. 1·3 cm. long.
