General Description

A terrestrial herb 22–60 cm. tall. Perennating organs underground, tuberous, obliquely irregular conical, in chains, 1.5–3.3 cm. long, 2.2–2.6 cm. diameter, yellow; roots 3–4 mm. in diameter. Leaves 7, not plicate, linear, acute, 10–30 cm. long, 8–12 mm. wide, lowest 3 sheathing. Inflorescence produced before leaves, laxly many-flowered; peduncle 2–3 mm. diameter, bearing 2–3 sheaths along length; rhachis 7.5–30 cm. long; bracts linear, acuminate, 4–8 mm. long. Flowers very small, yellow or greenish yellow spotted or marked with purple or brown; pedicel and ovary 15–17 mm. long.
