The native range of this species is S. Zimbabwe, E. Eswatini, W. Madagascar, Réunion. It is a pseudobulbous geophyte and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Distribution

Endémique. Ouest (Secteur Ambongo-Boina): Manongarivo (Ambongo), Perrier 1696.

General Description

Plante de 35 cm. environ de haut; pseudobulbes cylindroconiques, (1,5-2 cm. X 4-0 mm.), rapprochés et bifoliés. Feuilles oblancéolées-linéaires (8-11 cm. X 3-5 mm.), apiculées et graduellement atténuées vers la base en pétiole assez long; articulation nette, à 1 cm. au-dessus de la base; limbe charnu-coriace et plan. Inflorescence simple, à la base du pseudobulbe florigère déjà développé; pédoncule 2 fois plus long que la grappe; grappe lâche, à 8-12 fleurs; bractées lancéolées, petites, ne depassant pas le cinquieme de l'ovaire pedicelle; fleurs petites (1,5-1,7 cm. de long). Sépales et pétales oblongs, obtus, de 4 mm. de long. Labelle (6,3 x 5 mm.) à 4 lobes, les 2 latéraux obliquement carrés et divergents, les 2 antérieurs ovales; 2 courts callus triangulares en avant de l'orifice de l'éperon; éperon cylindrique, un peu épaissi au sommet, obtus et de 5 mm. 5 de long. Colonne à pied court. Ovaire (pédic. incl.) de 11 mm. de long environ.

Habitat

Bois tropophiles, sur sables, non loin de la mer.
