General Description

Terrestrial herb 50–120 cm tall.Leaves absent at flowering time, later 2–3, c. 30 × 4 cm.Inflorescence laxly few- to several-flowered; scape with 2 loose sheaths to 3 cm long.Pedicel and ovary 25–28 mm long; bracts 16–20 mm long.Flowers deep purple or green and mauve-pink, the lip with white hairs.Sepals 17–25 × 5–8 mm, oblong to narrowly elliptical, acute, ± reflexed.Petals 21–25 × 10–13 mm, broadly elliptical, obtuse, but with a narrow base.Lip 25–28 mm long, 20 mm wide when flattened, 3-lobed, with 3 double rows of lacerate crests; side lobes rounded, erect; mid-lobe 15 × 10 mm, the margins crisped or undulate; spur 10 mm long, conical, straight.Column 11–12 mm long.
