This species is accepted, and its native range is China (SW. Yunnan) to Myanmar.

Distribution

North Burma and possibly south-west China (Yunnan); 1200–1500 m altitude.

General Description

A terrestrial herb with clustered growths. Leaves 3–5, oblong-lanceolate, tridenticulate at acute apex, up to 17 cm long, 5.5 cm wide, irregularly mottled pale and dark bluish green above, purple-mottled beneath. Inflorescence 1-flowered, 20–45 cm long; peduncle densely pubescent, purple; bract lanceolate, acute, 2–3 cm long, ciliate, green flushed with purple. Flower 8.5–12.8 cm across; dorsal sepal white veined with green; petals greenish white flushed brown-purple and spotted all over with dark maroon; lip greenish or ochre, finely brown-spotted; staminode pale green with darker veins; pedicel and ovary 4–6 cm long, green or reddish purple, pubescent. Dorsal sepal ovate, acuminate, 4–6.1 cm long, 2.5–4.6 cm wide, ciliate, pubescent on outer surface. Synsepal lanceolate, acute, 3.5–5.8 cm long, 1.2–3.3 cm wide. Petals spreading at an angle of c. 30° to the horizontal, somewhat pendulous, oblong-lanceolate to oblong, acute, 5–7.9 cm long, 1.5–2.5 cm wide, setose-ciliate. Lip deeply saccate, 5–5.6 cm long, 2.2–2.8 cm wide; side lobes verrucose. Staminode lunate, 9–10 mm long, 12–14 mm wide, finely pubescent, lateral teeth incurved at apex, blunt. 2n = 44.
