Bulbous herb up to 120 cm high with a prominent pseudostem.

Bulb 2–3.5 cm wide.
Morphology Leaves
Leaves 4–8, non-sheathing part of petiole short; lamina 25–50 × 5–16 cm, apex acute to acuminate, base attenuate to cuneate; developing after anthesis.

Evergreen moist forest; c.1800 m.
Conservation
Conservation notes: A narrow endemic in a protected area; probably Vulnerable. Considered Vulnerable D2 for Zimbabwe in the Sabonet Red Data List (Golding 2002). A specially protected species in Zimbabwe.
