Morphology General Habit
A small tree rarely more than 8 m tall (usually much shorter), the trunk 8–13 cm in diameter; leaf-blades 120–160 cm broad, the segments broadest at the point of fusion, beneath bearing scattered small fimbriate scales each having a conspicuous translucent central portion. Inflorescence and flowers creamy-white at anthesis, the axes glabrous
