Annuals, very branched from the base, with erect, ascending or prostrate main stem, villose

Stems and leaves with two types of simple hairs: shorter straight hairs with no broadened base, and longer (to 5 mm) hairs with conical podium

Halimocnemis, from Gr.ἄλς, hals, salt and κνηµη, kneme, knee [almost same as Halocnemum, though in this case ‘cnemum’ was defined as ‘sheath’.
